SANTIAGO (AFP) – A pole dancer who took her writhing spins where they had never been — onto a pole inside a subway car — perked up the morning commute before her underground career was cut tragically short.

Monserrat Morilles, 26, for the past few days had been walking into a subway car dressed in a leather coat and black boots, then start slowly stripping in front of surprised and then enthralled commuters in Chile’s capital.

But her desire to share, perhaps too much, was unceremoniously squelched Thursday when 15 security guards stopped her shimmying and wrestled her out of the metro where she was promptly arrested.

“I think it’s amazing that they are using all this security against someone who never hurt anyone when there are plenty of people who are attacked in the metro,” Morilles told AFP.

She added that none of the metro riders had pressed charges against her.

Morilles had given commuters a free pole-dancing show for several days, stripping down to her bra and panties, before being pulled from her mass transit show.

WELLINGTON (Reuters) – Road workers in a small New Zealand town got their wish granted when a woman stripped saying she was fed up with their wolf-whistles.

The Israeli tourist was about to use an ATM in the main street of Kerikeri, in the far north of the country, when the men whistled, the New Zealand Press Association reported.

She calmly stripped off, used the cash machine, before getting dressed and walking away.

The woman told police she didn’t take too kindly to the whistling from the men repairing the road.

“She said she had thought ‘bugger them, I’ll show them what I’ve got’,” Police Sergeant Peter Masters told NZPA.

“She gave the explanation that she had been … pestered by New Zealand men. She’s not an unattractive looking lady,” Masters said.

“She was taken back to the police station and spoken to and told that was inappropriate in New Zealand.”

HELSINKI (Reuters) – Finland’s foreign minister faced calls for his resignation on Saturday after a tabloid newspaper published a suggestive text message he had sent to an erotic dancer.

Ilkka Kanerva sent about 200 text messages to Johanna Tukiainen, 29, and at first said they were related to her performing at his 60th birthday party.

On Friday he admitted the messages were not totally appropriate.

“I would not present them in Sunday School, but they are not totally out of line either,” the daily Helsingin Sanomat quoted him as saying.

The Ilta-Sanomat daily said that in one of the messages Kanerva had asked Tukiainen: “Would you like to do it in an exotic place? Where could it be?”

When Kanerva was asked whether ‘it’ referred to sex, he only said it was obvious that his message was an answer to an earlier question, Finnish News Agency STT said.

Fellow parliamentarian Tuija Nurmi, also of the conservative party, has said Kanerva should resign, and opposition leader Eero Heinaluoma said the situation cannot continue as it is now.

Conservative Party chairman Jyrki Katainen said he had confidence in Kanerva but his actions had been rash.

Finnish TV station MTV3 said it had heard from unnamed sources that Kanerva’s party has been preparing for his resignation. Kanerva insisted he would stay in his job.

Tukiainen, who has posed nude in magazines and is the leader of the Scandinavian Dolls erotic dance troupe, first sold the text messages to Hymy magazine, and then sought a court injunction to stop their publication. A Helsinki court rejected the request.

The magazine said it would publish the messages in its next issue, due to be released on Wednesday.

Kanerva’s longstanding partner has said she has accepted his apology over the matter.

This is not the first time Kanerva has been in trouble over his mobile phone use. In 2005, when he was the deputy speaker of parliament, he bombarded two models with text messages.

NEW YORK – A businessman claims in a lawsuit that he was injured when a stripper giving him a lap dance swiveled and smacked him in the face with the heel of her shoe.

Stephen Chang, a securities trader, said in court papers filed Friday that he was at the Hot Lap Dance Club near Madison Square Garden and was getting a paid lap dance when the accident occurred early Nov. 2, 2007.

According to the lawsuit, as the dancer swung around, the heel of her shoe hit him in the eye, causing him “serious injuries.”

A man who identified himself as the manager of the Hot Lap Dance Club said he was unaware of the accident or the state Supreme Court lawsuit. The club’s lawyer, Stephen Ateshoglou, did not immediately return a call.

On its Web site, the club describes itself as the “Playboy Mansion of Manhattan party lofts.” The site says admission is $50 plus a one-time club membership fee of $10 for newcomers. Lap dances cost around $40, plus admission, according to the Web site.
