I really can’t complain about the adult business, it’s been very good to me over the years. I am soon coming up on my 10th year of slinging porn. Not sure if that’s something to really celebrate. It is as far as being around that long, I’ve seen many, many people come and go over the years. Then again, is 10 year of pushing “porn” something to be proud of, but that another post, maybe.

So why do I seem to bitch all the time lately? It’s because the online porn business has gone downhill to much over the years. Sure things and times change, but much of what has changed shouldn’t have and it seems more evil.

Maybe Evil is not the right word. Maybe.. More Greedy.

When I started I was getting ratio’s of 1:100 and under all day long. Yes, that is 1:100, no missing zero on the end. Sure it’s still possible to get that kind of ratio, but it’s quite rare and pretty uncommon. For average Joe webmaster these days it’s more like 1:500 or more at times.

It seems every day I read or hear of another sponsor ripping some one off. Just yesterday I read about a guy who built up a very nice recurring lifetime income a few years back. As long as his members stayed on (lifetime) he’d get a cut. Low and behold, the program decides to cancel his account and cut off his money. They gave some bullshit excuse that they couldn’t get a hold of him and that he wasn’t sending traffic. Gee, his checks made it to him every month, that is until they stopped it. As for sending traffic, it was lifetime commissions, he shouldn’t have to be active to get paid. After all they were paying on active members he sent! From what I see, they are going to get away with it and some people even still praising the program, after all that. Un-fucking-believable.

It’s hard not to get pissed off and tired of the crap, when you know what it use to be like. It never was perfect, but it was a hell of a lot better than it was.

There wasn’t so much greed, not like there is today.

What would I have to say to those just entering the business? “Go do something else online. There are plenty of better ways to make money on the net.”

Sure it’s a huge market and there is a ton of money on the table. Problem is Average Joe will have to work his ass off for a for a wage a little better than a real job. Not that it can’t be done, it’s just so much more tougher.

Am I the only one that sees this business eroding away?

I really hate being negative, but it’s hard not to be when so much has turned to crap. Believe it or not, I am actually a very positive person.

Moral of the story? Keep a close eye on your shit. Track your sales and hits and dump those that scam or shave you. There are still some decent programs out there, just getting harder to find..

They are pretty rare, but there are those few proud webmasters that seem to always be in promotion mode. I can understand and often applaud those that are pushing their wares.

But some time’s don’t you just want to say, “Shut the Fuck up Already, please” ?

Granted I am here to make money but it’s doesn’t always have to business does it? There are times I put up links without anything in return. There are times I post comments on blogs without plugging my stuff. There are many times I post on message board without reminding every one to look at my stuff, or always show off that I know everything about everything.

I have been doing some mainstream stuff along with my adult and I see it on both sides.

Do those that are always in expert mode or always promoting their products get more business. Probably. But some times they just bug the shit out of me. Like I said, Shut up already.

We are all guilty of it at times, it’s human nature and I guess the nature of business. But would it hurt so much, just to help without an ulterior motive? Or just to be quiet for once?

I’m sure some one has wished I’d shut up at one time or another.

Some time back I remarked to my wife that is seemed as though the word “porn” was becoming mainstream. Well, it was being used for often more common. It’s like people are not “as” afraid to use to use the word. I think it would have been consider cussing just a short time ago. It’s like porn hit the mainstream.

Did it really?

I don’t think so. Whole folks might be more comfortable with the word, they still don’t seem to be comfortable with the business.

You could say, well screw them, I don’t care what people think about my adult business, or my lifestyle. For most things in life you’d be a strong person with conviction. But if you run a porn business, you’d probably be a lier. If you a family, it does matter. If you have children, it matters even more. Believe me I know first hand how people can be and how they can turn on you. It’s really quit amazing.

It’s sad because for most of us, it’s not something we can be proud of, or talk about with friends or family.

It’s a big part of reason I have been working in non-adult. Sad really.

It’s not talked about much on the boards, least from what I’ve seen. Like the long time falling down drunk uncle no one mentions.

Do your friends and family know what you do for a living?

I said I’d be posting more on this blog and find I am not totally keeping up with the mark.

I’ve been working my way into mainstream and find it difficult to keep up with the adult and non-adult side. I know part of my problem is I am not always completely focused and productive when I’m on the PC. It’s a tough thing to do. I’ve been hitting the keyboard for over nine years now, will be 10 in Sept. It’s hard not to get burned out, doing anything on the computer. I often have the best intentions, but get time of it some times.

I know I’m not the only one. Many of the people I use to know, years back are either gone or their sites seem to be vacant billboards cluttering the net. I sure don’t see amny of them on ICQ.

Seems I need to tak my own advice and get my butt moving on goals and checklists. Right? Any one else have a hard time keeping going? Or am I the only one even reading this blog? Comment Biatch…

Over the years I read and posted on quite a few message boards, though I’ve really narrowed it down lately, as they can be real time demons.

One thing that amazes me is how many people talk as though they are experts and sadly giving out bad advice. Some might see me as to passionaite at times though I hope they don’t think i am some know-it-all or the likes, but what I post from from my experience, usually from trial and error. It comes from almost 10 years of being an adult webmaster. I don’t know everything and never will, nor do I want to.

Point of my post, be careful who you listen to. Hell, don’t listen to me if you don’t want to, not going to bother me. I just see so much bad advice given out and I know these people don’t know what the hell they are talking about, but I play nice. On the other hand there are so many webmasters that know what they are talking about and do give out some great advice. Just be careful. Look to the veterans that have something to show for their knowledge.

I originally started this blog with Movable Type, which I have switched away from, long story.

I just noticed though, seems the post import from MT to WP did not work all to well, some posts are not complete. I have no idea why and no time to go back and see about fixing them all. So, gleam what you can, if you have a question, let me know.

One of the biggest reasons I have not had time to post more is the simple fact that I have too much to do. As usually I’ve taken on too much with no way in hell, enough time to get it all done. Main problem being, I do most of the work myself, the lone wolf. My wife does help, but shee can do only so much, as her time is limited.

I have been talking with a friend that lives close by, she will be working at least part doing some of the grunt work, sure will help. If you want to be big in this game, it sure is tough to do it all by yourself, there are only so many hours in the day. Hiring people can be a pain in the ass though. I’ve tried bringing on some help in the past and its’ always ended in disaster. The first one was quite some years back, a friend of my wife’s and mine. She was a 20 year old blonde, actually pretty hot, well thats another story in itself, maybe I’ll tell more of that some other time. Anyways, she had it made, she came over to the house to work. Our office was in the bedroom, we had a tv and gave her some easy work to do, nothing difficult. She did great for a few weeks, then she was showing up late and wanting a day off, or leaving early. I dont remember exactly what happened, but shortly after that she was no more.

Last hired hand was last year. Another friend of ours, a single mom in another state. All she had to do was keep two blogs updated, minimum posting every two days. I thought it was going to be a perfect match as she was an aspiring writer, working on a book herself. She could write I knew that and we had even hot chatted a couple time, so I knew she could write porn and must bigger words than I could. As usual, this one was done quicker than the last. After checking the blogs for a week or two, I found they were not getting updated, one was off by a week or more. Long story short, I paid her for a week and called it off.

It just amazes me, so many people complain about not having enough money, but they dont want to work! It’s not just people I’ve tried to hire, but I see it every where. Am I the only one that knows you have to work to make money? So many friends over the years, I hear constantly complaining about not having enough cash, yet they dont want to work, I just dont get it.

It’s a pain enough trying to hire people for this line of work. It’s not like you can put an ad in the paper. I realize there are many out sourcing places that will do this kind of work, and many being over seas, they work pretty cheap. Problem is most dont know the language, very poor grammer and spelling, I’d end up spending more time correcting their work. I’m not looking for experienced writers, but hopefully some one that can write in english and it should’nt be to hard to get some one that writes better than me.

If you want to build any kind of porn empire, you’ve got to have help, there is no question about it. Some one posted on a baord not long ago, would you rather make 100% of $10,000 or 50% or $50,000? Sure makes sense when you think about it. So, the last couple months I’ve figured I need to get more “workers” on board again, hopefully it will work out better this time..:)
