The things a guy will do for his sister
MOSCOW (Reuters) - A young Russian man who dressed in women's clothes to take an exam for his sister was caught after his oversize bust gave him away, Interfax news agency reported Monday.

The youth's "unusually prominent female features," and heavy make-up drew security guards' attention and they stopped him from taking the test, Yasen Zasursky, dean of Moscow State University's journalism faculty, told the agency. Good thing I dont have a sister

World Cup to Fine Streakers Heavily
HAMBURG, Germany - World Cup organizers will seek heavy fines for streakers during next year's tournament.

During the recent Confederations Cup there were four instances of streaking during the tournament's 16 games.

"You can't assume these so-called streakers will always have peaceful intent," Wolfgang Niersbach, vice president of the organizing committee, said Friday. "We don't want to imagine, for example, what would happen if one had a knife."

There currently is no penalty in Germany for spectators who run onto the field. Organizers would like even tougher measures for streakers, such as jail, but did not think they could get such laws passed in time for the World Cup.

German authorities ruled out building a metal fence around the field because it would penalize soccer fans.

Naked bullfight protest brings halt to Madrid
MADRID (Reuters) - A group of half-naked animal rights demonstrators brought Madrid's historic Puerta del Sol square to a halt on Wednesday in a protest against bullfighting.

Shoppers gawped and tourists snapped photos as the five young women and one man carried out one of a series of protests leading up to the traditional "running of the bulls" in the northern Spanish town of Pamplona starting next week.

"Stop the Bloody Bullfights" read one sign held by the protesters, who wore only white panties and plastic bulls horns on their heads. "Torture is not art or culture" they chanted.

"We are trying to convince the majority of people who are indifferent, who oppose bullfighting but do not openly speak out against it," said Leonora Esquivel from Mexico, president of rights group Anima Naturalis.

Esquivel estimated some 70,000 bulls a year were killed in bullfights in Spain, which she said had the worst animal rights record in Europe.

Some people in the crowd heckled the protesters, defending Spain's tradition of bullfighting.

"Bull running and bullfights are known as the national fiesta here in Spain," said Domingo Granado, 73. "I like bullfighting, but everyone has a right to their opinion."

Pamplona's ancient San Fermin festival begins next Wednesday and draws tens of thousands of visitors during a week-long frenzy. The bullruns along an 825-metre (2,707-foot) course to the bullring take place each morning from Thursday. Like I would heckle Topless Women

The festival was made famous by Ernest Hemingway's 1920s novel "The Sun also Rises"

Principal Won't Lose Job Over Racy Dance
SELMA, Ind. - A middle school principal who shocked some parents and community members by what they described as suggestively dancing with male students at a talent show will not be fired, a school official said.

Alice Mehaffey, principal of Selma Middle School and an assistant superintendent, likely will be back in the fall, said Liberty-Perry schools Superintendent James Craig.

He said the school board did not decide whether or not Mehaffey should be punished, instead leaving it up to Craig.

"The board said it's a personnel issue that the superintendent will handle," Craig said Wednesday. "I am not recommending that she be dismissed from the position. She's apologized to the community. I think we're trying to move on. I expect her to be on our staff for the 2005-2006 school year."

Some community members said Mehaffey's behavior at the show was inappropriate.

She wore short shorts, had a male student pretending to be a police officer handcuff her and tore the T-shirt off another boy during an encore of the songs "YMCA" and "Macho Man."

The Star Press of Muncie could not reach Mehaffey for comment. No listing was available for Mehaffey in Selma or nearby Muncie.

Selma resident Bonnie Swingley said she hopes Mehaffey has learned a lesson. Swingley's granddaughter attends Selma Middle School in the community 5 miles east of Muncie.

"Everybody makes a mistake, but that was really so seductive to the kids," Swingley said. "I hate to see anybody in her situation get fired. I just hope that from this that her act can be cleaned up." Like any of the guys were complaining.

Fat Thai Police Ordered to Reduce Weight
BANGKOK, Thailand - Thai policemen with waistlines larger than 40 inches have been ordered to reduce their weight in order to look good when they direct traffic, the police department announced Tuesday.

Recent medical examinations of 4,150 police officers in Bangkok found that 49 percent have high cholesterol and are overweight, which is "an obstacle" in directing traffic, said a statement from the Metropolitan Police Bureau.

Eighty-eight of the overweight officers whose waistlines ranged between 40 and 49 inches were ordered to join the "Smart Police," a one-month weight-loss program.

Participants will have to eat according to doctors' instructions and meet for daily exercise and evening meals at the Bangkok hospital sponsoring the program.

Those who do not show progress will also undergo acupuncture, a Chinese medical practice believed to help cure many ills, including obesity.

"We hope this will help create a better image of traffic police in the public's eyes," said police Maj. Gen. Montri Chamroon, explaining why the police force wants them to "look smart."

It was not announced what would be done with officers who failed to reduce their girth. Hang on a second, just so they look good? What about being able to catch crooks? I see very overweight officers and I wonder, how do they run and catch the bandits? Seems that would be a little better reason to slim down.
