Woman Seeks Husband on a Billboard
SYDNEY (Reuters) - A Chinese woman living in Sydney has taken the unusual step of advertising for a husband on a billboard outside a cinema in Sydney's eastern suburbs. Helen Zhou, from Shanghai, said she had tried Internet dating but found men did not want to commit. "People are happy to date but they don't want any commitment, only temporary relationships," the middle-aged Zhou told her weekly local newspaper, the Southern Courier. Zhou spent A$5,000 (US$3,700) on the billboard which has a large headline "HUSBAND WANTED" and a lists of requirements, such as age up to 45, good health, non-smoker and drinker, Caucasian, solid financial background and a good sense of humor. "I'm not fussy," said Zhou, who describes herself on the billboard as a beautiful and intelligent woman seeking a "dream family with a fabulous partner." "I guess I want a traditional sort of person, not really flash -- an old fashioned kind of guy, not one who spends every cent and doesn't worry about tomorrow." So far Zhou's search for love has received few replies.

Reports: Man Tells Dog to Bite Cat Lover(AP)
HONG KONG - A Hong Kong taxi driver has been convicted of assault for instructing his dog to attack a cat lover, newspapers reported Friday. Yip Ko-yuen testified in court that Joseph Cheung hit him with a dog leash after he stopped Cheung's dog from attacking a stray cat on May 14, the Apple Daily newspaper said. Cheung then ordered his dog to attack Yip, who was bitten in the groin, the report said. Cheung, 49, was found guilty of wounding Yip on Thursday, Apple and the Oriental Daily News reported. He will be sentenced next Friday. Yip is a volunteer for The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Hong Kong and has 23 cats, the Apple Daily said. He suffered injuries to his thighs and lower legs. Calls to the Judiciary went unanswered Friday, a public holiday in Hong Kong.

Couple Allegedly Has Sex in Shoe Store(AP)
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Two out-of-towners got caught in a rain shower, and decided to seek refuge by breaking into a shoe store. Then one thing led to another — at least that's what the couple told the officer who found them having sex amid new boots in the store's display window. The officer responding to a burglar alarm at Hacienda Western Wear on Tuesday tapped on the glass door, disturbing Pauline Grace Rainwater, 20, and Brandon Lee Clark, 18. The couple was naked, but Clark managed to cover himself with one hand, and wave at the police officer with the other. The officer told the couple to get dressed. Court records show they did — and then they took off running. A call for backup brought more officers to the streets, and the two were arrested. Clark and Rainwater were charged Thursday with burglary, resisting an officer, assaulting an officer and indecent exposure. Bail for each of the transients was set at $7,500.

Red faces at Orange as customer gets blue photos
LONDON (Reuters) - Mobile phone firm Orange says its picture messaging service can "make someone feel really special". But when one customer called the company helpline she received some pictures that made her feel outraged instead. What she expected was a photo from a customer service representative to make sure her camera phone was working. What she got was a series of close-ups of his genitals. "This ex-employee sent some indecent photographs of himself. He was dismissed within a week," an Orange spokeswoman said on Wednesday. "We've looked into the matter, collated the information and handed it over to the police." Worldwide camera phone sales are rising fast and expected to total 150 million this year.

(AP) Man Trying to Kill Mouse Shoots Girlfriend
CONFLUENCE, Pa. - A man missed a mouse he was trying to shoot with a small-caliber handgun and wounded his girlfriend instead, state police said. Donald Rugg, 43, of Confluence, was trying to kill the rodent with a .22-caliber handgun when his girlfriend, Cathy Jo Harris, 38, apparently went into the line of fire and was hit in the arm early Tuesday morning, state police said. She was taken to Somerset Hospital where she was listed in fair condition Tuesday, said hospital spokesman Greg Chiappelli. Neither Rugg nor Harris could immediately be reached for comment. State police said they won't charge Rugg, but advised against people shooting firearms inside.

Breast Implants for Men -- What's Up with That?
SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Breast implants are becoming more and more popular with a surprising group of Shanghai citizens -- men. The Shanghai Daily said Wednesday that most of the male patients seeking implants in China's financial hub wanted to impress women, or clients, or in some cases their boss. The implants are similar to those used by women, but they are shaped differently and are stiffer. Doctors warn that the surgery has certain risks and people with allergies or heart problems should find another way to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger (news - web sites), the newspaper said. "To be frank, surgery is unnecessary," Liu Chunlong, from the Shanghai Ren'ai Hospital, was quoted as saying. "Physical exercise can create the same effect and it is safer." He said the hospital had received 40 patients this year and operated on 10, compared with just two or three such operations last year. He said many of the patients had psychological problems. "They ascribe the unhappiness in their lives to their weak muscles," he was quoted as saying. "The surgery, in some instances, serves as psychological therapy."

Woman Pleads Guilty in Tongue Biting
ST. PAUL, Minn. - A woman pleaded guilty to third-degree assault Thursday for biting off a piece of her boyfriend's tongue in the midst of a kiss. Pamela D. Johnson told police that she had argued with Larry Sylvester early June 16 in the bedroom of her St. Paul apartment. When the argument ended, Sylvester tried to make up by hugging and kissing her, but Johnson said she became fearful and "bit down a little too hard" on his tongue, according to a criminal complaint.

Sylvester, who at one time was engaged to Johnson, was taken to Regions Hospital, where doctors found that the front third of his tongue was missing. Police couldn't find the bitten piece, and Johnson told officers that she doesn't remember what happened to it. In her plea Thursday, she did not admit to assaulting Sylvester but agreed that there is sufficient evidence for a jury to find her guilty. She will be sentenced Nov. 16 by Ramsey County District Judge Marybeth Dorn. Third-degree assault carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, according to the state statute.
